Would you like to experience indigenous methods of healing and learn to incorporate them into your current practice? Join Lewis Mehl-Madrona, Barbara Mainguy, and Bob Vetter for a weekend of embodied healing teachings, practices and techniques that you can put to immediate use.
Various indigenous healing disciplines from all over the world use a two-step process: first eliciting a story about what caused a person's imbalance or "dis-ease," and second, hands-on methods of touch that move the person toward balance and wholeness.
In this weekend, we explore practical healing methods including:
• Deep sacred listening to uncover the root cause of imbalance that is "storied" in the body
• Understanding "susto," or soul fright and learning how to bring back the lost parts of "you" following trauma
• Supervised practice with methods of Indigenous North American Body Work including deep pressure, rocking, shaking, running energy meridians, mobilization and breath work
• Connecting with the body through dialogue and imagery
• How to uncover and shift underlying disempowering beliefs that keep us "stuck"
• Methods to ceremonialize and make sacred the connecting of narrative medicine with body work
This workshop is suitable for all levels––from experienced bodywork practitioners to psychotherapists with an interest in the body to beginners who want to start down the road of mind-body healing.
